Rayanna's Review Room Friday~ Corbin's Bend Season 2~ Books 1-4

I finally had time and motivation to catch up on my Corbin's Bend Reading this last week, and since I pre-bought the entire season when that option was available, I will be reviewing all the Season 2 books, except of course my own.

Season 2: Book 1- Chemistry of Attraction by Thianna D

Retired Marine Brandon Delt moves to Corbin's Bend after his recently divorced wife marries his cousin. Tired of living a non-discipline lifestyle, he fully welcomes the openness of the Corbin's Bend spanking community. One day he hopes to meet the woman he could make his. He doesn't expect to meet her on day one.
Carodine Minor is just in Corbin's Bend for the summer. Just graduated with her master's degree in chemistry, Dina isn't sure of her next step in life. Not once has she ever considered being spanked. Logical woman that she is, when she finds herself intrigued by the idea of a hand across her derriere, she asks for a demonstration from Brandon. One demo turns into a wild night of passion neither wants to let go of.
Take one hot summer. Add in an intellectual chemist and a dominant retired Marine. Once the chemistry ignites, combustion is soon to follow.

Review:

If you don't know Thianna D is the creator of Corbin's Bend. It is this authors humble opinion that she could have written the entire series by herself easily. But she didn't. She opened it up to other authors in the community, and made it all the better.

Thianna's characters are deep and believable while struggling with problems anyone who has lived in or thought about living in a domestic discipline relationship can relate to. We saw this is Season 1, and we will continue to see it throughout all the seasons of Corbin's Bend.  In Dina's case, a highly intelligent, sensible woman, she has trouble accepting the way she acts when she loses control. And Boy, does Brandon make her lose control.

If any of the CB author surprised me, Thianna does the most. Looking at her other titles, I think I expected something a bit darker or heavier from her. Dark and heavy this isn't. Intricate, thoughtful, fun, and at times a little fluffy, Thianna's Corbin's Bend titles are books I could read over and over again. Anyone who knows me at all, knows that coming from me, fluffy is a high compliment, and I hope Thianna takes it as such. Maybe quirkiness is a better word. Thianna has a quirky sense of humor that I admire and it shines through in her stories.

Season 2~Book 2:  His Forever Summer by Tara Finnegan

Carla Methon has tread on a lot of toes, men's and women's alike. But no one could be more dissatisfied with Carla than the lady herself. With a compunction to throw herself at every man within a three mile radius and a serious case of foot in mouth disease, Carla knows she is in desperate need of being taken in hand before she does any more damage to her reputation.
Kieran O'Brien needs to escape a broken relationship and he invites himself to spend a summer with his brother in Corbin's Bend. But Kieran is a totally unsuspecting vanilla with no idea of the ethos of the community he is about to enter.
The pair strike up an unlikely friendship of vanilla and spice, with one stipulation - it is only a summer fling. By the time Kieran boards his flight to return to Ireland he wishes his summer could last forever. Can he find the courage, not only to admit the extent of his feelings, but to take on the role Carla so desperately needs him to be?

Review:

First off, Kudos to Tara Finnegan for taking a character that was hated by all for the entirety of Season One and managing to make her sympathetic- it's no easy task, but the author did a bang up job! And as a reader, can I just say how nice it was to see Carla finally get the spanking she so deserved?
I am always amazed at Tara Finnegan's ability to cram twists and plot turns into a story and still come up with a happy warm fuzzy ending.

I love that she took a totally vanilla and plunked him down in the middle of Corbin's Bend, and for half of the book he had no idea what was going on around him. It was fun to watch the lengths Carla went to to keep him from finding out- but she couldn't be with him 24/7, and living with his brother and sister in law, he was sure to figure it out eventually. BTW, the scene in which this happens is hysterical.

Kieran eventually has to make a choice and choose to put Corbin's Bend behind him, or choose to embrace it and learn to become the HOH that Carla needs. No spoilers, but I think we all know that as Jim O' Brien'd brother, he will take to the lifestyle like a duck to water.

Once again, my only complaint about Tara's writing, isn't really a complaint. But i sometimes have a difficult time figuring out irish wording and expressions. I'm getting used to it though, and while continue reading books as long as she is writing them.

Season 2: Book 3:  A Brush of Violet by Corrine Alexander
Blurb:
High powered business woman, Violet Walker, has long left her artistic days behind. That is until her best friend, Everleigh Harris, invites her to Corbin's Bend for an art festival. What Everleigh doesn't know is that Violet hasn't been able to paint a single brush stroke since turning her back on her submissive desires and spanking needs in college. When she meets charismatic and drop dead gorgeous Charles, her world is turned completely upside down. Will Violet, overworked, burnt out, and in denial of her deepest wants and desires, be able to surrender when love knocks on her door?
Charles Robinson, President of the discipline Board in Corbin's Bend and longtime resident, adores the community he lives in and the freedom it provides for all who live there. Raised in a traditional family; love and discipline are a way of life for him. There's nothing he wants more than a marriage just like his parents where spanking and romance go hand in hand, even if that means holding out for true love. Is Violet just the kind of woman he's looking for?
Will Violet risk the life she's built for herself in blood, sweat, and tears for the undeniable connection she has with Charles, the utter bliss and contentment she feels when she's over his lap? Can Charles convince Violet she really can have it all? Will this trip be just what she needs to rekindle all that she has lost since joining the corporate world?

Review:
Corrine Alexander has been around the DD/authors bloggers circuit for years, and I was shocked to realize that this was her first published story. Kudos to her for tackling such a big project right out of the gate. Your first story is always nerve wracking, and so is a project of this magnitude, so extra props to someone who can do both at the same time.

Now onto the story!HOLY HOTNESS! The cover is just stunning, Don't you agree?  This may be my favorite of all the CB covers so far. Violet is a character you can root for from the beginning and one I could certainly relate to. Anyone who has tried to quiet their inner spanking diva knows the pain that it can bring to keep in something that is such a big part of you and the wonderful feeling of being liberated that can come when you finally accept it.

And then there's the spankings. Um, I wanted to be Violet in that implement room! This was quite the kinky story with even a little bit of talk of clothing privileges, and other fun stuff. I hope Corinne keeps writing, and i hope she plans to tackle another CB book in the future!

Season 2: Book 4: The One She Loves by Constance Masters

Blurb:

Carol and Crystal love the lives they share in Corbin's Bend with their nine year old daughter, Brianna. Carol is a taken in hand bundle of fun but she is not a Susie homemaker. Their house is often times a mess. She'd rather spend time living life than cleaning. She loves Crystal and Brianna and she loves spending time with her friends. She often finds herself over her girlfriend's knee for a bare bottomed spanking for getting her priorities wrong.
Crystal is a fire-fighter and the head of their loving home. She's fit, neat and organized. Apart from her career, Carol and Brianna are her world, and while she knows friendships are important, she feels somewhat threatened by how much her girl shares with her friends and not with her.
When Carol decides she wants a baby, it throws their house into a spin. Crystal isn't sure and wants to wait. When Carol's three naughty friends from Leading the Way (4th in the Corbin's Bend Series from Season 1) see how disappointed their friend is, they help the young mom go on a sperm search with hilarious results. Only problem is, Crystal knows nothing about their hijinks. Can a punishment fix this mess? Or will what Crystal sees as disloyalty, tear them apart?

Review:

I'm a Constance Master's fan. Always have been, always will be. This was Constance's first F/f story  and since these characters have been around since the beginning of Corbin's Bend, I admit to being a little worried for her. I know how hard it can be to tackle something new.

I need not have worried. Carol came to life in her first book, and it made sense that Constance should be the one to write her story.Carol is younger, more impulsive, and a lot more reckless than her partner Crystal. She has a habit of putting her friends and a fun time first and worrying about the consequences later. Crystal's priorities are work and family, and friendships seem to be a bit harder for her. And then there is the added problem that the friends Carol shares a closeness with are girls, something that makes Carol more than a bit jealous.

Constance's book is full of laughs, friendships and real life relationship struggles that anyone could relate to. The hijinks Carol and her friends get into will keep you shaking your head and fearing for the fate of their bottoms. The sex and spanking in this were well written and while not entirely my thing, it made for a pretty easy read. In the end, will Carol and Crystal be able to find common ground and compromise on the things they both want in life?
